David Kattrup, better known as DJ Wank, hails from Helsingør, Denmark. At 16, in 1992, he discovered techno and adopted the provocative name DJ Wank to spark reactions, grab attention, and make a lasting impact.
For over three decades, his journey as a techno DJ has taken him to clubs and events across Northern Europe. During the mid-1990s and early 2000s, he played a pivotal role in shaping the local techno scene, organizing events at the legendary Elværket music venue in his hometown.
In 2002, David relocated to Sweden, where he expanded his focus to music production while continuing to perform as a DJ. Since then, he has released music on a wide range of techno labels. Among his longest-running collaborations are Rotraum Music and the Elektrax Music label group, including Elektrax Recordings, AcidWorx, Darknet, and Achromatiq.
Over the years, his music has also appeared on labels such as Hydraulix Records, ODD Recordings, Resilient Recordings, Dolma Red, CODE Records, Chlore, Sound Dissonance, Flatlife Records, and many others.
His tracks have received support from artists including Thomas Schumacher (Drumcode Radio Show), Ben Sims (RunitRed), S-File (The S-File), Perc, and DJ Rush, further establishing his presence within the international techno scene.
Whether behind the decks or in the studio, his sound is rooted in
driving, uncompromising techno, blending classic 303 acid with powerful
grooves and modern production.
